How Does Kopa™ Work?
Kopa™'s active ingredient — potassium salts of fatty acids — penetrates the soft cuticle of target insects and disrupts their cell membranes, causing rapid dehydration and death. Because it is a contact insecticide that breaks down quickly, there is no residual activity that would harm beneficial insects after the spray dries. Thorough coverage of all plant surfaces, including the undersides of leaves, is essential for best results.
Bulk Application Rates
- General pest control: 1–2% solution (1.25–2.5 oz per gallon of water)
- Heavy infestations: Up to 2% solution; repeat every 5–7 days as needed
- Preventative / maintenance: 1% solution every 7–14 days
- Greenhouse use: Apply in early morning or evening to avoid phytotoxicity in high heat
- Coverage estimate: A 30-gallon drum yields approximately 1,500–3,000 gallons of finished spray solution at standard dilution rates
Always test on a small area first. Avoid application in temperatures above 90°F or in direct sunlight.
Is Kopa™ Approved for Organic Production?
Yes. Kopa™ is OMRI Listed and approved for use in certified organic production systems, compliant with USDA NOP standards. It fits seamlessly into organic integrated pest management (IPM) programs at any scale.
Is Kopa™ Safe for Beneficial Insects?
Yes, once the spray has dried, Kopa™ poses no residual risk to beneficial insects such as predatory mites, parasitic wasps, or pollinators. Apply during early morning or evening to minimize exposure to active beneficials.
