What is Kopa™ Insecticidal Soap?

Kopa™ Insecticidal Soap by Neudorff is an OMRI Listed, contact-mode insecticide made from potassium salts of fatty acids. It controls soft-bodied insects — including aphids, spider mites, whiteflies, thrips, mealybugs, and scale crawlers — by penetrating and disrupting their cell membranes on contact. It leaves no systemic residues, has no pre-harvest interval (PHI), and is safe to apply up to the day of harvest on vegetables, fruits, herbs, ornamentals, and greenhouse crops.

Is Kopa™ approved for organic production?

Yes. Kopa™ is OMRI Listed and approved for use in certified organic production systems. It is compliant with USDA National Organic Program (NOP) standards and fits seamlessly into organic integrated pest management (IPM) programs.

What pests does Kopa™ control?

  • Aphids
  • Spider mites & two-spotted mites
  • Whiteflies
  • Thrips
  • Mealybugs
  • Scale crawlers
  • Psyllids
  • Leafhoppers

Key Benefits

  • OMRI Listed — certified organic approved
  • Contact mode of action — no systemic residues
  • No pre-harvest interval (PHI)
  • Safe to apply up to the day of harvest
  • Safe for beneficial insects once spray has dried
  • Compatible with most IPM programs
  • Broad crop label: vegetables, fruits, berries, herbs, ornamentals, trees, shrubs, greenhouse
  • For indoor and outdoor production

How does Kopa™ work?

Kopa™'s active ingredient — potassium salts of fatty acids — penetrates the soft cuticle of target insects and disrupts their cell membranes, causing rapid dehydration and death. Because it is a contact insecticide that breaks down quickly, there is no residual activity that would harm beneficial insects after the spray dries. Thorough coverage of all plant surfaces, including the undersides of leaves, is essential for best results.

Suggested Application Rates

  • General pest control: 1–2% solution (1.25–2.5 oz per gallon of water)
  • Heavy infestations: Up to 2% solution; repeat every 5–7 days as needed
  • Preventative / maintenance: 1% solution every 7–14 days
  • Greenhouse use: Apply in early morning or evening to avoid phytotoxicity in high heat

Always test on a small area first. Avoid application in temperatures above 90°F or in direct sunlight.

Where can Kopa™ be used?

Kopa™ is labeled for use on vegetables, fruits, berries, herbs, ornamentals, trees, shrubs, and greenhouse crops in both indoor and outdoor production environments. It is suitable for commercial growers, greenhouse operators, and home gardeners.

Is Kopa™ safe for beneficial insects?

Yes, once the spray has dried, Kopa™ poses no residual risk to beneficial insects such as predatory mites, parasitic wasps, or pollinators. Apply during early morning or evening to minimize exposure to active beneficials.
