Crab shells help support a healthy microbiome by adding higher calcium levels to the soil. Crab shells are naturally high in calcium and chitin. Chitin encourages bacterial growth. In addition, pests like ants, grubs, and nematodes have exoskeletons high in chitin, so introducing a fertilizer that fuels organisms that feed off the substance will create an environment that helps keep these pests at bay.

You can incorporate the Crab Shell Flour into the soil or use it as a top dressing around plants.
