*The mine partnered with RMBA as a supplier of perlite has run out of mineral to mine, we are not sold out yet, but we cannot get more. Check out our RMBA Parboiled Rice Hulls as a direct replacement by volume!*

Perlite is a volcanic glass commonly used as a drainage and soil structure input for potting soils. Perlite keeps soil loose so water and air can reach the plants roots and soil microorganisms. It is mined and heated, which causes it to expand into a foam-like substance. Since it is a natural material, it is acceptable as an organic gardening input.

The Physical structure of soil is an important aspect for healthy plant development. Perlite is a naturally occurring mineral that is added to manufactured soils to aid in drainage and aeration, preventing soil compaction. Well structured soils hold moisture at healthy levels, which makes conditions ideal for a healthy microorganism community, and more resistant to diseases. Perlite drains water very effectively, and is the perfect media for growing succulents, or as a substrate for hydroponics systems. Mined from a source in Florence, Colorado
